Hello, and welcome back to our blog! Last time we gave you several tips on traveling with your pet. We talked about what things you should be packing, how to plan your itinerary and make sure you buckle up your pet. If you missed out and would like to read part one, you can find it here. However, if you've already read it, keep reading to discover several more ways to be prepared next time you go on a road trip with your furry little companion.
Take weather into consideration
Weather can have a much bigger impact on a dog's behavior than ours and because of that, it's important to know what the weather will be like on your trip. If there's a lot of rain and thunder where you're going, your dog may be scared and need more attention than usual. This would be a good time to spend the day inside maybe watching a movie or reading a book. This way you're not leaving your pet alone on a day like this.
If it's snowing, your pet may have an uncanny obsession with jumping in the snow and tracking it inside. If this is the case, you may want to bring extra towels or use a gate to keep your pet in one section of the RV. Either way, if your dog is predictable enough, you'll know the best way to handle these situations.
Be a responsible pet owner
Most people enjoy having pets around, whether it's at the park or an RV resort. However, it's important to respect peoples' space and safety. With that being said, if your dog leaves a mess behind, barks often, plays rough or has violent tendencies, you'll want to make sure you take care of these before they become an issue with other visitors.
Enjoy the company
Whether you're traveling alone or with the family, the most important thing about traveling with a pet is to enjoy their company. If you have kids, this is a great opportunity to teach them about the responsibilities involved in taking care of a pet. If you're traveling alone, a pet will keep you company after a long day on the road.
